Easter Poem
By Charlotte Batchelor / Spinebreakers Crew
Isn’t it funny?
How at a glance its about chocolate eggs and a bunny!
But on closer inspection,
It’s actually about the resurrection.
Upon a cross he was nailed,
Because the Son of God he was hailed.
Joseph could find no breath,
So this was announced Jesus’ death.
He was placed in a tomb later that day,
The Pharisees put a huge stone in the way.
Guards were placed who could not slack,
As it was believed in three days Jesus would be back.
On the third day there was a great quake,
As the Angel of the Lord made the guards shake.
When Mary arrived the Angel spoke,
And all of their fears were finally broke.
The Angel said your Lord has arisen he is not here,
Go check when he did lay and have no fear.
He told Mary to pass this message on,
For to Galilee was where Jesus had gone.
When Mary went to the disciples and said,
They insisted he was dead.
Peter was the one who wanted to see if she was right,
So he went to the tomb to see it in black and white.
At Emmaus two friends of Jesus’ did dine,
With a stranger they broke a loaf of bread and shared wine.
They suddenly realised it was Jesus the Holy one,
But as soon as they noticed he was gone.
Off to Jerusalem the two men went,
To tell of the time with Jesus they had spent.
As they were talking Jesus did appear,
And the ghost the men did fear.
Don’t be afraid Jesus said,
As he showed the nail marks to prove he had once been dead.
No longer do Jesus’ friends mourn,
As the word was spread – Jesus has been reborn
