Spine Breakers
"Co-chairing the children’s literature festival in Bath has been the highlight of my year"
Natasha was the winner of the Bath Festival interviewing competition on Spinebreakers. This is Natasha interviewing top authors (from left) Patrick Ness, Meg Rosoff and Terence Blacker.
“Winning this Spinebreakers competition gave me the fantastic opportunity to interview influential authors and to discover their passions and how they inspire others. Being onstage was nerve-racking yet exciting too, as the responses the authors gave were unpredictable; before I knew it I was laughing and really engaging in conversation with them. The banter between Patrick, Meg and Terence was brilliant and the audience really seemed to enjoy their pearls of wisdom! Backstage, the production team really welcomed me and made the whole experience better than I had ever imagined. Co-chairing the children’s literature festival in Bath has been the highlight of my year and I strongly urge anyone who’s considering entering a Spinebreakers competition to do so; you may just find it’s the highlight of your year too!”

THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED
Charlie Higson, Meg Rosoff, Robert Muchamore, Kevin Brooks, Jonathan Stroud, Malorie Blackman, Patrick Ness, Jason Bradbury, Jenny Downham, Terence Blacker, a Dalek – and you.
What do all of these have in common? Well they’ll all be visiting Bath this September to create one of the most dynamic, vibrant literature festivals in the country. And we want
YOU
to be involved.
At this year’s Bath Festival of Children’s Literature, Spinebreakers will be running an event with top teen authors Meg Rosoff, Patrick Ness and Terence Blacker. This event is guaranteed to be one of the most cutting-edge events at this year’s festival as, not only will it be chaired by a top Telegraph journalist, it could also be chaired by
YOU!
We’re looking for a book addict aged 13-19 who will take part in this groundbreaking festival event for teens, co-interviewing these top leading authors, alongside Toby Clements (of The Daily Telegraph).
You could win the chance to pitch questions to these renowned writers, whether it’s about their books, lives, hobbies, interests or favourite types of vegetable!
The event will take place at the Guildhall in Bath on Tuesday 22nd September at 6.30pm. Spinebreakers will pay all expenses for the winner, plus a guest, to come to the festival, and their guest will also receive a complimentary ticket to the event. The winner will also receive copies of all three authors’ books, and there’ll be plenty of time to plan and discuss the event with the Telegraph journalist beforehand.
