Elle
By Rebecca / Spinebreakers Crew
Elle
(Who chewed her nails all day and suffered a terrible fate)
Biting nails must surely be
An unappealing tendency
But once there was a girl named Elle
(Who’s story we’re about to tell)
Who had but one annoying love
The habit spoken of above
Her nails were short and bumpy due
To all the biting that she’d do
She’d gnaw through night and gnaw through day
And spend all of her life this way
No matter what her parents did
They’d plead and beg or just forbid
Nothing stopped the little miss
From biting, for it gave her bliss
But one day mum who’d had enough
Decided that she must be tough
So told young Elle the honest truth
That she had heard once in her youth
If constantly you bite you nails
An awful fate always prevails
You’ll find one day you just can’t stop
You’ll eat yourself bottom to top
Your jaws will be so used to munching
That they will continue crunching
Elle, as a naïve young girl
Thought things like that just don’t unfurl
Besides her nails looked so inviting
How could she refrain from biting?
So bite she did, and so it was
Her mum was oh so right because
Elle’s little mouth just chomped away
Much to her increased dismay
She screamed in pain and screamed for help
It only came out as a yelp
She ran into the street outside
Desperate as she cried and cried
Spectators watched the poor girl bite
An awful, scary, gruesome sight
They screamed out loud ‘What is she doing?’
‘How can we stop her from chewing?’
Alas for nothing could be done
But watch until young Elle had gone
‘Til there was nothing left to find
Except her teeth which stayed behind
And there they were, they were still moving
Chomping up and down, and proving
If you chew your nails all day
You’ll be like Elle, and you will pay
