The Town

By Joanna Horton

The town she lives in is the town she knows,
The town she lives in is the town she loathes,
The town she lives in, the town she breathes in,
The town she lives in, the town she screams in.

The town knows neither of etiquette nor class,
The town is nothing but a farce,
The town where they laugh and play,
Is the town where they will always lay.

The town will not sleep at night,
The town will not now fly a kite,
Simplicity went from this town long ago,
And in its place came battle and woe.
