Part 1 of Geek to Gorgeous

By Emma

Argh, its school again another day of torment and pure torture. At my school it is divided into 4 major groups, there is the popular, the wannabe popular, the boys, and me, Sally the geek.

The school once again had its over crowed atmosphere as I dodged in and out of all the faces. Yes, the first lesson I had was English, the only time in the day where I could really express myself.
“Hello Sir” I said cheerfully to my teacher as I found my seat and dumped my bag on the floor.
“Good morning Sally, I see your happy today” replied Sir looking up from his desk.
“Umm yeah” I answered as I twirled my pen “I think so, anyway”
Sir laughed and I smiled back, he always understood my sarcasm.
The school day went on most of it the same kind of blur, normal lessons,Comments at lunch, then on the bus. I hate the bus.

It’s the time where I am always and I mean ALWAYS humiliated in front of what seems like the whole entire universe.
“So what colour tape on your glasses are you wearing today” sniggered Stacy, the head of the popular.
“Ring ring, ring ring, oh it’s for you Sally the 1930’s want there clothes back” laughed Sierra joining in. Soon all the popular were making remarks about everything to do with me, as usual I ignore them and when my stop comes I make a dash for the door.

I walked slowly up my street, the autumn was here and the crisp leaves were turning a fiery orange and brown colour, the sky was as blue as the twinkling ocean and the clouds were white like the feathers of and angel. I finally got to my front door there was a note pinned on the front

Sorry honey, I’m working late be home about 6 ish. There are some chips on the side you can warm up if you get hungry.

Love dad

Good old dad always thinking ahead, just like how mum used to. Even thought he didn’t have the most perfect sense, he still had a clue and his heart was in the right place. I turned the key in the door and my house was deserted, nobody home but me, great. I went and helped myself to a glass of lemonade and collapsed on the sofa, I flicked the TV on and an advert suddenly came up:

Are tired of looking like a geek? Are you sick of getting bullied? Then phone us now on Makeover Me, the brand new USA hit series. The number to dial is at the bottom of the screen, so get calling.

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, it was exactly as I felt, and I called in and left my details they said they would get back to me. Yeah, I know how many times I have heard that one before. I switched the TV off and went to get changed, I looked in my wardrobe they were right, nothing but geeky clothes. I sat down on my bed and looked around my room, I am a geek, and everything to do with me is geek material. I put my face in my pillow and wished I could be beautiful like everyone else in the world except for me.

“Beep beep, good morning River City its 7am now wake up” my radio chimed.
“Its 7am in the morning!” I said to myself as I clambered out of bed. I ran downstairs and into the kitchen.
“Hi sleepy head” dad said as he flipped a pancake “you were asleep when I got in so I thought I should leave you”
“Oh right” I smiled “I wondered if I had memory loss of my evening”.
He laughed and passed me a plate with a pancake sitting in the middle; I poured about 5 gallons of syrup on and went to eat it in front of the TV.

“We have 1 lucky winner from yesterday’s entries and it is…SALLY MORGAN!”

I suddenly remembered that I had entered yesterday; I couldn’t believe that I had won; I was going to be beautiful.
