Letting my hair down
I’m proud, I’ve actually stuck to my New Year’s resolution and January has been one heck of a month!
On the 4th, I did my first impulsive thing that I’ve ever done; I got my hair cut. Not that I haven’t before, but I always get it cut the same way, every single time – no layers, shoulder length, a blunt fringe and dirty blonde (my natural colour). This time, I decided to get it styled in a way I had always wanted, so now I’m sporting a layered bob with a side fringe and it’s an eye-catching auburn colour. Of course, I haven’t quite got the whole impulsive thing right just yet, and I did inform my friend, Tina, before hand, and she came with me when I got it done.
Tina, unlike me, likes to do crazy things and came up with a bunch of things that I should do this year and that is the only explanation I can give for at least one of the things we did whilst shopping. Let me just say, security in shopping centres have not got a sense of humour. Anyone else would find sitting down on escalators funny, right? Well, apparently the security guard didn’t think so. He actually said (and I quote) “What do you think you are doing? Have you any idea how many people you could have killed?” To which Tina replied, “Gee, I don’t know, sir. I’m guessing fewer than one.” in a perfectly serious tone. Again, he didn’t find this funny and, for the first time ever, I was banned from the shopping centre for a month, so I’m only just allowed back in now. Even though being banned from a public place wasn’t on my list of things to do in 2009, it was an ‘experience’ (one I’m hoping not to repeat soon, though).
Tina has agreed to join me on my quest to be impulsive this year under one condition – it doesn’t make her bankrupt. That seems fair enough to me, after all, the resolution is to be impulsive, not broke. It was when we were driving back from the shopping centre that I remembered the local dirt track, where quad biking is available. A word of advice; If you’ve never been quad biking, you have never lived. Unlike the shopping centre ban, I would definitely repeat that one.
I’ve done one more thing this month, which should have been simpler than it turned out to be, due to being banned from the shopping centre. Me and Tina gave each other a challenge; one outfit (dress/ top and bottoms, shoes, accessories and, if possible, a jumper/ jacket) for £35. Obviously, to carry out that particular challenge, we had to go further afield (thank God Tina can drive) to find another decent shopping centre.
This month, I have so many things planned, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I have a road trip in the pipe line amongst other things.
Till next month,
Molly ;)
