Worth The Wait?
By Meredith
I was on top of my world 7
But you attacked me at the knees 8
And I fell down 4
You knew how fast I’ll tumble 7
I learnt faults of living on highs 8
But you just smiled 4
It’s the hardest lesson to learn 8
That what you’ve been waiting for 7
Just wasn’t worth the wait 6
And that you aren’t as safe 6
As you used to think you were 7
The shock comes thick and fast to 7
Find the place that it hurts the most 8
Wounds that healed 4
Till I push away what I 7
Didn’t know I had all along 8
It’s the hardest lesson to learn 8
That what you’ve been waiting for 7
Just wasn’t worth the wait 6
And that you aren’t as safe 6
As you used to think you were 7
It turns out that my best times 7
Didn’t feel the way that I thought 8
And worse after 4
So that was it, that was it 7
didn’t my aims were so low 8
It’s the hardest lesson to learn 8
That what you’ve been waiting for 7
Just wasn’t worth the wait 6
And that you aren’t as safe 6
As you used to think you were 7
Poems
Poetry is the new rock and roll – do stanzas, haikus and iambic pentameters float your boat? No? Never mind, you can still send in your poem here!
