Naomi's text review of Artemis Fowl
By Naomi Passley / Spinebreakers Crew
Artemis Fowl: The Graphic Novel is a genuinely delightful read. The novel features words by Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin and Illustrations by Giovanni Rigano and is adapted from the original Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer. Artemis is the anti-hero in this gripping read, and it documents his plan to restore the wealth and notoriety of the criminal name Fowl. The novel uses some dark humour you can’t help but empathise with all of its major characters, even the buffoons who run LEPrecon (the fairy police to you and I). Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin successfully manage to create a new world in this tale with adolescent criminal masterminds and fairies that live underground with a rather sophisticated police unit. The only negative for this transfixing adventure has to be the sheer number of characters and subplots, I found myself forgetting who was who and had to pay quite close attention. All in all nevertheless it was great read and kids everywhere should love it!
