A quirky review on the ins and outs of Ian Fleming's Casino Royale
By Max Elsworth / Spinebreakers Crew
Detailed and well thought out, this action detective novel will please all big Bond fans and give them something the films won’t. Bond has been given the status of 007, and has been assigned to casino Royale to beat Le Chiffre at a high winnings poker game. However on the way to achieving his goal, Bond encounters many problems where he will have to use his wit, strength, and intuition, as well as his poker skills.
After reading Casino Royale, I think that only true Bond fans will appreciate this book. Unlike the film Casino Royale, the book is much slower paced, goes into a lot more detail, and overall gives a more realistic approach to the secret agent’s work. At times it feels too much detail and information is given and the reader may crave some high speed action, which unfortunately is a rare occurrence. However if you’re a true Bond fan, you may appreciate this detailed and informative detective novel.
