I’d recommend this book to all Doctor Who fans
By Kathryn Bell / Spinebreakers Crew
Packing just as much punch as a fifty minute episode, the first book in the Darksmith Legacy series promises to be a suitable alternative in the absence of a TV series this year.
When the Doctor’s TARDIS is pulled off course and lands on the Moon instead of on Earth the Doctor sets off to investigate. Set a little into our future, he meets a team of people working on a base on the Moon looking for an unknown power source. But, as always, things aren’t quite as they seem.
The thing that sets this series apart from other Doctor Who books are the little illustrated activities and fact files that break the book up a little. They make you feel part of the story and require you to think more than just reading it. The accompanying website is also a really interesting addition that makes the series so exciting.
There is no companion here either which makes the Doctor seem more vulnerable in a way. The Darksmith Collective are really interesting as well and seem original and menacing. It’s going to be interesting finding out who they are and what they are going to do next.
It feels just like watching an episode of the TV program would and ends on a great cliff-hanger that really sets you on edge. I’d recommend this book to all Doctor Who fans and I for one can’t wait to read the next instalment. Until then, I’m going to check out the website (www.thedarksmithlegacy.com) and continue “the amazing adventure” there.
