Allie doesn't remember The Twits being this creepy

When the name Roald Dahl is mentioned you might, like me, recall fond childhood memories of books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Fantastic Mr. Fox. Dahl is famous for his stories for young children, but I’d never read any of his older fiction before.
Tales of the Unexpected – first published in 1979 – has everything that makes his work for younger people brilliant, whilst bringing it up a notch or two to suit older readers. These sixteen short stories are sometimes funny, sometimes dark, and more often than not both. There are sinister bets, brains floating in basins and a cat with a lot more personality than most household pets. Each will leave you eager for the next. It was a welcome surprise to find that Dahl’s stories still capture my imagination just as much as they did ten years ago.
