“Listen.”

“Listen.”
The very first word of the very first page. Already you cannot contain your excitement, for who could not be overwhelmed by this curious demand of power?
So, you do listen. And you do smell and taste and feel the repulsive, agonizing day to day life of an acolyte, of Cale, deprived of all things humanly good, with only the wrath of morbid evil to suffer. This is the sanctuary of the holy redeemer, a hell in itself with no doors to escape. Well, that is until a mere boy broke all the rules there were.
Sinister, dark and fanatically mesmerizing. This tale is a true epic; uncontrollable and incomprehensible. For indeed it is a world depicting the pure horror of man; man’s corruptness and selfishness, only on such a grand, surreal scale it is terrifying. You find yourself thinking, hoping that we will never come to be so damned. That perhaps we will be lucky enough to die out completely, before moral evil consumes us all.
But still there will always be a shining beacon of hope. The shining beacon that is Cale, a boy who has always bared the burden of a troubled man. He is such a confounding character with his complexity and grief, but for some absurd compulsion his stone surface only makes you warm towards him more. So much so that I was devastated as I reached the last few pages, thinking that such an incredible, enthralling journey would end so unquenched.
Yet then... imagine the pure delight, the sheer ecstasy of my awestruck heart, brain, body and soul being jolted back to life; my subdued self, shocked so wonderfully beyond compare.
This mind-boggling mystery of a book was to be part of an even more insane series! This would not be the sorry end.
Two weeks on and I’m still on a serious high... I’m guessing ‘sheer ecstasy’ was an understatement!
