This Book Rocks!

Okay. This book rocks. I’m serious. I mean, I started it thinking it was going to be all heavy and serious and stuff but it’s witty too! Action, comedy, religion, battle, romance are all in this book.
You’re kind of wondering whether it’s set in some other world, and then you start spotting names of places on Earth, like Stuttgart and things and then they mention Jesus and (this is just a guess, as you have to run to keep up with this book) I think it’s like a parallel world. Where Christianity doesn’t exist, or at least you don’t hear about it existing and a far more powerful religion does instead. It’s brilliant.
Easily my favourite character is IdrisPukke, followed by Vague Henri and then… Vipond. Which I’ve just had to add to my dictionary.
IdrisPukke is, or was, a general, and brother of Vipond. Only thing is everyone wants to kill him, which is a bit of a shame seeing as he’s probably the smartest and funniest character, but of course they don’t know that. Vague Henri is friends with Kleist and Cale (the main character), but Kleist and Cale are not friends. At the start of the book all three are living in some big fort thing called the Sanctuary, which is like a sort of hellish abbey. Running the Sanctuary are Redeemers, like priests, who are heads of different things, mostly to do with fighting. Anyway, these Redeemers are horribly violent and have ridiculous rules, for example they can kill an acolyte (someone like Cale) for doing something unexpected. To skip a lot of vital stuff, Cale then kills a Redeemer and escapes (cleverly) with Kleist, Vague Henri and a girl called Riba, who they’ve just discovered. That’s the start of the book.
I enjoyed this book even though it could be a little complicated, but I didn’t mind, and I’m pretty sure there is going to be a sequel. At least, I hope there will be a sequel.
