Not for the Faint Hearted
By Emma / Spinebreakers Crew
The horror spine chilling book written by Simon Holt is not for the faint hearted.
“When dark creeps in and eats the light, Bury your fears on sorry night, For in the winter’s darkest hours, Comes the feasting of the vours, No one can see it, The life they stole, Your body’s here, But not your soul”.
This story is written brilliantly, with imaginative descriptions and scenes, it’s really an absorbing read. The devouring is a creepy story about some kind of demonic species named “Vours”. Only on sorry night can they steal the soul of children scared and alone. Using horrible psychic methods, they can project the most frightening of nightmares into your head, even when your awake. These visions seem so realistic but its all in the mind. The monsters crave light and heat and the cold is their weakness, with the power to take over the human body, nothing can stop them. That was until Regina Halloway got involved.
After finding the book in a dusty box in Eben’s bookstore, Reggie and her friend Aaron soon discover a whole new world. Was it real? Or was it just the insanity of the person who wrote the diary? With desperate efforts to free her brother, Regina enters the “fearscape” and lives through henry’s fears to finally release her brother’s soul from the vicous vours. The fearscape is real, and if any injuries occur, when you awake the scars are from the inside out.
Simon Holt captured an amazing plot and gave it vivid description, this terrifying tale is really a must read.
