Stacy's Review
By Stacy Reeve / Spinebreakers Crew
I’ve realised that when it comes to my taste for fiction my taste buds seems to already have an acquired taste…I must expand on this. So, I admit when I read the blurb of What I Was I wasn’t instantly drawn in to its mysterious plot.
However, I began to immerse myself into the characters; almost instantly I began to conjure a real strong sense of imagery of the rolling East Anglian countryside, green and inviting; compared to the little shack on the beach that Finn liked to call his home. On the subject of Finn I would say that he was the character that drew me into the storyline, I think his character was developed superbly by Meg Rosoff.
It’s one of those books that, after you have read its final chapter, you begin to reflect on memories and thoughts of your own. After reading this, I have to say that I will never be judging a book by its cover again!
