Lily's Review
By Lily Tomson / Spinebreakers Crew
Before the name became a legend
Before the boy became a man.
Meet Bond. James Bond.
From James' first day at Eton, he knew he'd have problems with George Hellebore. The proud, tough young American had issues with him, too. But little did James know, these problems would follow him from Eton to Scotland, to a castle on a lake, where a strange new form of warfare threatened to be unleashed.
As Charlie Higson's sharp, cutting style takes you from twist to turn, you will be too busy trying to work out the next plot development to admire his good but simple characters, and his great tension-building technique.
How will James survive? How will his journey start to turn him into the legend we all know? A great book for every Bond fan, and thrill-seekers worldwide, this terrific blend of action and thriller will have you on the edge of your seat...or falling off.
With great laughs, and really sad parts too, Charlie Higson’s first Bond adventure really is a James Bond legend in the making.
WARNING: not for the squeamish!
Look out for the next three books in the series!
I’d recommend this book to boys or girls (it seems boyish but it’s a good read whoever reads it), who are into Bond or action and spy books, including Anthony Horowitz’s books. It would be a good read for 11 to 13 year-olds, or whoever is into this kind of stuff!
