Orlando's interview with Eoin
By Orlando McCarthy / Spinebreakers Crew
Eoin: I’m Eoin, how’re you?
Me: I’m good how are you?
Eoin: I’m surprisingly good.
Me: You must be tired after the book signing.
Eoin: Well. About ten minutes after I sign the last book, then I feel tired. But right now I’m okay.
Me: Okay. First question.
Have you woven any characters from you’re previous books into And Another Thing?
Eoin: Well on the first page of the book, I think that it refers to an Irish teenage mastermind, and people will know that it’s Artemis. And there’s also another one which is a character name I use in Artemis Fowl books. It’s just that I like to do that, kind of link them up a little bit. It’s not ‘coz I’m too lazy to think of new character names. Okay, next one.
Me: What was the worst and the best thing about writing the Hitchhikers Guide Book?
Eoin: Well the best thing was the actual writing of the book. But I think the worst thing was when I’d finished, I started to get really worried about what people would think of the book.
Me: Okay. Third Question. If you hadn’t have heard of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and hadn’t been a massive fan of it, would you still have written the book?
Eoin: That’s a good question. I probably don’t think so because the fondness I have with Hitchhiker’s comes from when I was a teenager. If you fall in love with something then, it becomes very special to you. It’s like your first girlfriend or your favourite band. If I had only discovered it now, I don’t think I would have as I’m not as emotional now as I was back then.
Me: It’s been a pleasure, Eoin.
Eoin: Thank you.
