Sakina's review of Black Rabbit Summer
By Sakina Alidina / Spinebreakers Crew
After hearing good reviews I decided to read Black Rabbit Summer, Kevin Brook's first novel specifically aimed at the teenage audience.
The main character is Pete Boland, a sixteen year old boy awaiting his GCSE results. We follow him as he spends his summer holidays not relaxing, but facing teenage issues such as bullying, sex and drug abuse, and with a dash of murder, lies and weird characters.
Kevin Brooks makes this blank canvas book into a unique blend of both murder mystery and drama. Some can criticize the book as having a pace too slow to bare, but its worth reading on as it soon gathers enough momentum for a spectacular series of twists at the end, making this book a very interesting read indeed.
