'A shame really'

If you’re able to read between the lines easily, then... *Spoilers!*
As a fan of the ‘Young Bond’ series I was naturally thrilled when I got the latest in the collection. Although, perhaps due to my high expectations and sense of euphoria, it simply didn’t fulfil my expectations. As much as it had an interesting plot behind it all, it was to put it plainly, a disappointment.
Personally, I felt that it was longer than it needed to be, for the majority of the book was fairly slow-paced. However, I must say that there were some parts of the book that were genius indeed, for the escape towards the end of the book was without a doubt the most exquisitely thought out part of it all.
Moreover, this book was a success in that James’ character has had the opportunity to develop even further in this episode, as we get a better sense of his conflicting emotions between right and wrong; as well as love.
Yet contrastingly, for me the chemistry between Roan and James was simply not strong enough to make believable, so that towards the end of the book when matters took a turn for the worst, I wasn’t able to sympathise or even well up as much as I would have liked to!
Unfortunately, I could have quite easily put this book down and forgotten about it. A shame really.
