Truly inspiring
By Maybelle Law / Spinebreakers Crew
Recently one of my favourite books and addresses the social boundaries that love can often face.
As I’ve become more entwined with the Victorian Era associated with outspoken women independent of society’s stereotypical set-ups reading Jane Eyre was truly inspiring, as she fully epitomises this woman. However even this woman is vulnerable to the inconvenient infatuation she gradually experiences for her master Mr Rochester. This all-consuming proximity of their relationship (her as the governess of the house) leads to doubtlessly one of the most heart-rending confessions of love aside for Wuthering Heights. However shocking discoveries arise and these difficulties create some considerable obstacles for the love of Eyre and Rochester.
Definitely a book I’d recommend, a complete and utter representation of how love should be, feel and affect. Fit with a rather different take on the fairytale ending, but a fairytale ending nevertheless. After reading one of the most classic love stories of all time, the reader is left feeling justified in believing in fate and happy endings.
