I’d recommend it to anyone

Juliet, Naked follows the story of the long-suffering Annie and her obsessed boyfriend, Duncan. The subject of his obsession is a has-been rock star named Tucker Crowe. Duncan has set up a website for him where like-minded fans analyse his lyrics and performances, even though he hasn’t released an album since a ‘mysterious incident’ in a toilet in the 80s. But when a new album is released, Annie and Duncan differ on their opinions and when Annie writes a bad review of it, she gets an unexpected email from the subject himself...
First of all, I liked the way it was written. In some books like this, the middle is a struggle to get through because it drags on and on until the end; but in this book, it didn’t feel like there was a bit that filled the void between the beginning and the end. The story itself was quite interesting; I liked the fact that not all the problems were resolved and that one of the main events at the beginning of the book ended up as something relatively small.
I don’t really know what to say about the rest of it, honestly... I liked it. I can’t say that it was the best thing that I’ve ever read but it was definitely good. I’d recommend it to anyone, especially those who have no patience with typical love stories. It’s by no means a chick lit book, which there was a danger of with the story. I would recommend it to Nick Hornby fans, people in the mood for a nice bit of romance or people who are obsessed with an 80s rock legend. Because seriously, it’s a little weird.
