I can’t wait for the sequel!

When I picked up the book my first impression was that the front cover looked very glam and interesting. Also on the front was a quote saying that it was very much like the O.C which I watch – this quote made me very keen to read it.
As I read on I realised how Anna Godbersen described the characters and the setting in great detail this put a vivid picture in my mind and I could actually imagine everything that was happening. The book starts off with a prologue about the funeral of a rich debutante called Elizabeth Holland. This is where all the characters are introduced, when you read the first chapter it starts off the story of how the funeral happened and leads you through Elizabeth Holland’s life with scandal and mystery.
I liked how each chapter was about a different character – this kept the book interesting. Instead of having the thoughts of the one character there was an insight into the others. As I read on I started to develop a love or a hate towards the characters. This feeling towards the made up characters is what made this book special, it was the same kind of feelings you got towards characters in movies. Anna Godbersen definitely made the characters very believable.
The book reminded me of the Gossip Girl series but set back in the 1800’s. This book is brilliant for any girl that wants an interesting read – I loved it so much I read it in three days! The only downside is the era its set in – some girls may be put off by how old fashioned it is and the start is quite slow but if you hang in there it gets better. I have never read a book set in this era but I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait for the sequel!
