This is a girly summer read with a backbone

It’s that time of year again, when the sun comes out (supposedly) and most of us are lucky enough to enjoy a break away, in either an exotic location or perhaps closer to home. The suitcase is crammed full of clothes, the sun cream has been bought in its kilos yet there is something missing and that something is a summer read in the form of The Truth About Forever, written by the talented author Sarah Dessen.
Unlike many other ‘girly’ summer reads this is a girly summer read with a backbone; it has a strong main character, Macy, whose ups and downs throughout the book become inspirational to those who are truly trying to discover who they are.
This is not your average read. Well, yes, it does include hot guys, friendship and humour but this book also has so much more to offer; with an array of lovable characters combined with Macy’s infectious personality it all comes together perfectly to make a summer read with depth, emotion and a worthwhile plot.
