THE KING BLUES

Save the World - Get the Girl

About the music...
Itch’s songs are resoundingly political, yet always told from a personal political stance born out of his formative years as a transient teenage runaway and Big Issue seller on the streets of the capital since the age of 14.

Their music is a heady and life-affirming concoction of ska, folk, poetry, reggae, do-wop and dub, all delivered with a punk energy that recalls the first wave of British punk and US ska-punk heroes such as Operation Ivy and Rancid.

About The King Blues...
The King Blues were formed in 2004 by Itch and Jamie as a guitar-and-ukulele duo and born out of Hackney’s creative squat scene and the Stop The War resistance movement. Early shows were played all over the capital – outside other bands’ gigs, in freshly squatted buildings, on boats, anywhere with a power source. Or not even that – the band’s simple set-up was as much a necessity as anything. “It’s easier to run away when you’re only carrying a ukulele,” laughs Itch.
