The Diary Of Captain Holly Short

THE DIARY OF CAPTAIN HOLLY SHORT
I’ve already written up my official report for the kidnapping but Dr. J ‘and-how-did-that-make-you-feel?’ Argon, (B.Psych, C.Rak.Pott), reckons a diary would help me, and I quote, “deal with my emotional trauma”… Emotional trauma, my foot… But they won’t let me back on the field until I’ve written this diary. So here I am writing down my ‘innermost feelings’ like some hormone-strewn teenage mud girl. Great.
What can I say that the rest of recon doesn’t already know? Some insane mud boy genius saw fit to kidnap me in the middle of the Ritual. Armed with a giant of a mud man and a few tranquilizing darts for extra reassurance. All for some stinking gold.
Aforementioned insane mud boy then locked me up in a concrete-lined room and proceeded to carry out his dastardly plan. Long story short, LEP disaster Cudgeon sent in a troll (a troll for heaven’s sakes!) which messed up a few mud people, me included. I then healed gorilla mud man Butler. Trust me to take pity on the one who could snap my spine with his little finger. And then risked my own life saving mud girl Juliet! Stupid Stockholm syndrome…
The LEP paid me out with the gold from the hostage fund and then something very strange happened. Fowl agreed to let me out with half of the gold if I returned his own mother’s sanity. I was completely sure (and still am to some extent) that he is completely unable to feel any real emotion towards anyone. So what Fowl’s motive was there I have no idea.
At any rate, I know I’ll have to see him again. However much I don’t want to. But I’ll be ready.
In faith,
Holly Short
